Candle meditation is great for those of us that are new to meditation. It turns out that meditation switches off what psychologists call the 'monkey mind' and just slowing down allows us to stay healthy, relax and enjoy the moment.
Light a candle and dim the lights. Set a timer for ten to fifteen minutes. Then, sit with your back straight at about two feet away and concentrate on the flame. If you are like me, and your mind wanders it is important to refocus back to the flame. Take a few deep breathes and relax. Don't give up as the more you practice the easier this gets.
Sometimes I prefer a natural candle without a scent but whatever candle you choose I hope this makes a difference.
